The DoFuss Podcast – Reaching for the Stars

Busy week. The combination of gaming, birthday parties and work left both I and Darren tired, unfocused and recording later than usual. There was a plan for the podcast formed at some point during the week but in honesty only about half of that plan could be salvaged from my sleep deprived consciousness. Fortunately Darren did manage to line up an interview (mentioned last week). To accompany this we also have some clips from the upcoming DoFussUS podcast with Jad and Chad. Most of the regular segments are still in too. There’s a lot of what we’ve been playing and … Continue reading The DoFuss Podcast – Reaching for the Stars

The DoFuss Podcast – NintenDon King

It is a big one, pushing the hour and six minute GarageBand gives us to its limits. We have a few new jingles, but do not be scared (or at least try not to be; the ‘What Have You Been Playing?’ jingle takes a bit of getting used to). First I must apologise, we are sellouts. I hate to admit it but we have to pay the bills somehow. This week expect a smattering of adverts through out the show. Please don’t feel compelled to run out and buy any of the featured products, but try to understand the necessity … Continue reading The DoFuss Podcast – NintenDon King

The DoFuss Podcast – Architect Errol Fitzroy’s Black Plague First Person Morris Dancing Extreme

On time and ready to go. In an attempt not to walk in the footsteps of giants we decided to abandon the original discussion of reviews and scores at the last minute and instead focus on the recent Japanese top selling games and Final Fantasy 13 news as seen in Famitsu. I say ‘seen in Famitsu’ because I can’t read most of it so it’s more an impressions piece than a factual commentary. As always we also discuss some recent news and dip into ‘Darren’s Old Games’. This podcast Darren reminisces about hours spent floating around lost in Elite on … Continue reading The DoFuss Podcast – Architect Errol Fitzroy’s Black Plague First Person Morris Dancing Extreme

The DoFuss Podcast – In Memory of 1UP

A melancholy grips us today with the news last week that Ziff Davis Media sold its games division to UGO. The take over saw the close of EGM one of America’s biggest gaming magazines and the loss of more than 60% of their staff. Most of these staff are already producing new content at various sites (some links on the right) and we wish them and 1up all the best. But it’s 2009 and new starts abound. Darren is now in possession of a Wii so he is now able to contribute to discussions. In spite of this Darren still … Continue reading The DoFuss Podcast – In Memory of 1UP

Mirror’s Edge (360, PS3, PC)

I don’t like what Mirrors Edge does to me. It captures my most obsessive side. The part of me that is determined to take every jump perfectly. My problem is that I don’t seem to be good enough at it. I am unable or unwilling to spend the time to commit every minutia of every course to memory to enable me to actually be good at it. Perversely, I don’t care. Plowing on, repeating sections, furious at my own ineptitude but enjoying it none the less. The reasons all of the irritations never detract from the games appeal for me … Continue reading Mirror’s Edge (360, PS3, PC)

The DoFuss Podcast – Motivational Screw Ups

Sorry this is late. I know I said know we would be on time with these, but I am an idiot. Darren and I recorded a fantastic discussion about motivation as well as the usual news unfortunately I forgot to record it. So what you are (hopefully) about to listen to is a well rehearsed, Darren edited, podcast on said topics. If you have any opinions on the podcast or thoughts on what motivates you to play games please leave a comment. On iTunes we are listed as explicit and this episode we use some very strong language, so if … Continue reading The DoFuss Podcast – Motivational Screw Ups

Podcast 7 – 31/10/2008

Happy 20th Birthday Mega Drive. This week is a celebration of Sega’s golden years and they numerous iterations, additions to and licensing of the Mega Drive. We also turn our eyes to the last few weeks bigger news stories from a slightly eastern perspective. And I say its podcast 7. So it is. I don’t care how many you think you’ve counted… Click here to download Podcast 7 (45MB) Continue reading Podcast 7 – 31/10/2008

Horror games

I have reached a time in my life where the majority of gaming I do is single player. I want to jump into games world. I’m a tourist. Except I have strange holiday requests. Instead of sun and beaches I want adrenalin and fear. Since the original Resident Evil I have been in search games that offer tension and fear. I want to escape the horrors or my mundane life and delve into the horrors of a zombie infested world. Unfortunately many games in this genre are becoming diluted. There is always an NPC or a player partner at your … Continue reading Horror games
