The DoFuss Show – 29 out of 100.
It has been a long week, in no way helped by the fact that we had to record this show twice thanks to technical problems. Fortunately the dry run meant that even with my general exhaustion we were able to keep the show mostly on track, and when we didn’t it was at least funny.

We kick off as always with ‘Heaven and Hell’ (featuring the World Cup) before the ever-present ‘What Have You Been Playing?’ For a change this show Darren has been indulging in games that could technically be called current, though while Portal ‘Mac’ has technically just been released it might be pushing it to call it new. I on the other hand have been playing the very current Alan Wake, which I have been gushing about online for some time, so I take this opportunity to redress some of the balance.
After this it is on to news. E3 kicked off the day we recorded with the Microsoft Kinect event (yes, I call it the Kinetic during the show, but I am sure that was their plan) so we do touch on the show a little bit in news, as well as some other headlines that caught my eye.
Finally we rap up with a feature on in game collectables. A topic inspired by Alan Wake, a game that manages to undermine its own narrative by poor implementation of in game pick ups.
I hope you enjoy the show, leave any comments or feedback below or drop us a mail.

FIRST!
Love the show, love the whole “We did this before but I forgot to save it so lets fake surprise and shit” at the start.
Collectables in games? Unless its like the intel in Resistance (where you learn more about the Chimera and other stuff) then its duff. Hidden Packages in GTA? What do I do with 100 packages? Treasure in Uncharted? If I can’t sell it, WHY THE FFFFFFFFUUUUUUU…..
As for a health system, I suggest a game with melee and ranged weapons, using ranged weapons is easy but drains health and melee attacks is hard but restores it. Makes you balance AND teaches you to be good at games.
So does this mean there will only be 100 DoFuss shows? That makes me sad.
Blokeh – Not the first time we have had to record twice, but yeah, we tried to see if we could get through without letting people know. We couldn’t.
Did we talk about health systems? I have to stop drinking during shows! But yeah, mindless-pointless searching for the sake of it scream bad design, even in quality games.
Feitclub – After the first 100 DoFuss Shows (which should take another four years or so) you can move on to another set of pick ups, maybe DoFuss Chat.
I also enjoyed the show but am starting to wonder about something. Most shows Alex and Darren encourage people to comment here and often one of us does or asks some question.
On other comment threads this would then lead to some debate. Here Alex steps in, answers all the questions, and kills the need to talk about it.
I think he and Darren should be more aloof. I don’t think they should be talking to mere listeners like us. They should be rolling past us in their gilded carraige of games whilst we fumble in the mud of their wake hoping to recieve tiny, castoff, relics of their passing.
What do y’all think (not you Al)
I will keep my mouth shut then.
I’ve told him that before. Plus organising his social life on here has to stop.
What happened to Frakesy?
Well, people stopped asking questions to Frakesy. I’m thinking perhaps he should become our U.S. correspondant or something. Suggestions anyone?
That would make sense, covering news from all 3 major continents.
Obviously this being Frakesy he should sing his reports to which I’d like to throw down the silky DoFuss song challenge gauntlet and request some bebop scat.
