The DoFuss Show – Where is the Gumbo?
What have you been playing, news and features make up the show this week. Though the last few weeks have been uneventful in terms of new releases we keep playing games and stuff is still happening in the industry.
Fallout 3 – New Vegas, Bioshock 2, Assassins Creed 2 and Dantes Inferno are all games we do not talk about. Instead we focus our attention on Final Fantasy XIII, Wii Motion Plus and a plethora of other juicy topics that sprung to mind. All this before we have a little chat about the direction of the handheld market, and why if iPhones are the future you should just wait and buy one when you get there.
Of course we also have some news on the Street Fighter 4 art book competition, but it may not be what you wanted. Enjoy and remember to leave comments at dofuss.net or on iTunes. Bye!

Darren’s right. “Blo-keh” Cos I’m a bloke, and at one time, loved the original Pokemon movie (well, the Psyduck vs Psyduck bitch-slapping contest scene anyways).
Sony have rested on their laurels with the PS3 and I think they’re beginning to realise that just like Nintendo did with the N64, they can’t do what they want and have people still buy it. It took Nintendo years to scrabble back from their epic fail, and have had to abandon their core fans and attract the casuals in order to do so.
Also, why isn’t Darren filling up the Nintendo section of UUDD? Dude’d be perfect!
I got the Pokemon part. Worryingly I was struggling with the ‘Blo-’ just another joy of dyslexia.
Sony really do seem to have just misjudged this generation. The same thing happened to the Walkman brand when they didn’t move to mp3 because of their worries of piracy. They failed to move fast enough hoping that their brand would secure them a positions in the market when they were ready. I’m sure that like Nintendo they will make their comeback but I can’t see the PS3 becoming the market leader (or even taking second place from 360) like some people were Sony are predicting.
Darren is enjoying being a silent observer apparently. I keep telling him stuff I see on the boards and his response is ‘Yeah, I saw that.’
Potential solution to the Street Fighter postage dilemma: declare me the winner and hand it over. No muss, no fuss, no expenses. For a more controversial decision, award yourselves first prize because your John Paul George Ringo character was funnier than my entry, thus making it the best.
Another big factor in the runaway success of the PS2 was good timing. It came with a DVD drive when the format was still relatively young and standalone players were still expensive. Clearly, someone thought lightning would strike twice with Blu-Ray but I think they overestimated the appeal of a slightly-better disc format for movies. Not that I’m complaining…I love what I got, but I don’t own a single Blu-Ray disc.
BTW, here’s a surefire winner for searching the App Store: shark. Nothing beats a shark.
Unfortunately there is a developer called ”Tiger Shark Games” clouding the waters. But there are indeed games, ‘Laser Shark’ and ‘Shark Frenzy’ being the most notable. Good work!
How about googlewack? Graham? Or you could go for the DUNK favourite BOOBIES! Not surre how that would pan out though. You might end up on a list somewhere…
