Fallout is set in Washington DC after a nuclear war. The area has been re-dubbed the Capital Wasteland and its most distinguishing feature is a lot of brown. Brown rocks, brown mud and grey brown water. While this doesn’t make it a fantastic vacation spot its does make for a believable world, complete with decimated real world buildings.

The world is populated with a variety of inhabitants. Giant insects, mutated humans and crazed robots all seem to have a personal grudge against you. This does have its advantages. Attacks rarely hinder you and help build up much needed experience.

After you receive enough experience you level up. This gives you to distribute points between your abilities and a perk. Perks grant an extra skill. However with a level cap of twenty be careful what you pick, as while some speed leveling, once you hit the cap those choices are useless.

VATs, a throw back to Fallouts classic PC role-playing roots.
