It feels like Sony has been confused since their rather flat start this generation. While stunned from this they seemed to blindly rip pieces of hardware from the PS3 trying to make it more appealing. All they time they did this they were constantly aware PS2 hardware and games still regularly outsold their next-gen brethren.

Fortunately, as with the Nintendo last generation, the environment in Japan always assured them second place. This was due to Japanese brand loyalty and the two most important words in Japanese gaming, Final Fantasy, which they have been pimping since well before launch.

It seems that now Sony is finally doing something to deserve this second place. Their newest bundle is the most competitively priced yet as well as bundling in the Duel Shock 3 controller and including Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. It also finally has the game library to make it an attractive purchase.
