Don’t count on your bomber beating those barbarians.
The ‘battles’ take place on the top screen. Cartoon styling, though not to my taste, in no way detracts from the tension you feel as you watch your tank apparently looses to a pike-man. Indeed fights often don’t pan out as you would imagine, this is because whatever your troops look like they are in fact just dice. I have had bomber shot out of the air by legionaries, and beaten marines with swordsmen because the walls and defenses my backwards troops were hiding behind weighted the dice in their favor.
